Friendly tech training and social connection delivered by local youngsters. We are often claimed under NDIS line items or Aged Care/ Support at Home plans.

Youngster.co is a certified social enterprise that connects tech-savvy young people with NDIS participants or seniors for personalised technology training and social connection.

We provide one-on-one and group sessions where friendly local "Youngsters" teach participants how to use smartphones, tablets, computers, taking and sending photos, video calling, using online services, or any other digital skills.

Our sessions are delivered in homes, libraries, cafes, or disability accommodation, making technology accessible and less intimidating.

What makes our service unique is the intergenerational connection - while participants learn valuable tech skills, our Youngsters gain important life experience. This mutual learning creates meaningful relationships that go beyond just technical support.

Our services can be claimed on and aligned with:

"Mum really likes Lucy (the Youngster) and she has been very good with mum. Obviously the learning process is still quite difficult for a 93 year old. She is slowly changing from "not interested" to "I can do it". Lucy is really good for mum so please send her a big thank you. Kind regards Caroline"

HomeCaring and Youngster.co | Friendly tech training by local, carefully selected Youngsters

Youngster.co is a certified social enterprise that helps NDIS participants or seniors get comfortable with technology through friendly, patient training from local Youngsters.

Many people receiving home care services want to video call their family, learn to use their devices with confidence, or access online services, but feel overwhelmed or frustrated trying to figure it out alone. We solve this problem.

What we do

Our carefully selected, police-checked "Youngsters" visit participants in public spaces like cafes, libraries, or community centres to teach them exactly what they want to learn - whether that's setting up WhatsApp, learning to use their tablet, understanding how to book medical appointments online, or accessing NDIS portals.

Social Impact

The benefits of our sessions go both ways. While participants learn tech skills that increase their choice and control, our young trainers learn valuable life lessons from participants. These sessions often develop into genuine friendships that go beyond formal support.

How it works with HomeCaring clients

Sessions can be coordinated with your existing care schedule or arranged separately. We meet in agreed-upon public locations near your home, supporting community participation goals while building digital confidence.

Funding

Sessions are claimable through NDIS plans under Capacity Building or Core Support line items, as well as aged care package funding. We charge $88/hour and can adjust rates to suit your specific NDIS budget. We typically recommend 10 sessions but can be flexible if we have trained Youngsters in your area.

We've been featured on ABC and NBN with a 4.9-star rating because we keep things simple, friendly, and effective. 50% of our profits fund free community tech sessions, showing our commitment to digital inclusion for everyone.

Use Cases

Learning basic smartphone navigation

Many seniors and NDIS participants have smart devices and may want to become more confident using them. Youngsters are great for teaching the basics: making calls from contacts, sending text messages, adjusting volume, using the home button, and understanding different app icons. This builds confidence for daily communication and reduces frustration. It independence and choice in how they communicate and access information.

Setting up medication reminder apps

HomeCaring clients who are working toward more independent medication management can benefit from smartphone reminder apps. Youngsters can help install and set up medication reminder apps, teach how to use alarms, and show how to track medications. This supports the goal of increased independence.

Taking, viewing, and sharing photos

Seniors and NDIS participants often want to take photos and share them with friends or family. Youngsters teach how to take photos, view the photo gallery, delete spare photos, and share images via text or email. This increases independence in managing their supports and maintaining important relationships.

App installation and removal

Seniors want to try new apps, or want to delete apps that were added to their phone somehow. They are also often afraid they'll "break" their device or don't know how to remove unwanted apps. Youngsters can teach how to download apps from app stores safely, organise apps on home screens, and delete apps they no longer want. This gives them confidence to use their phone and control their apps.

Online grocery shopping and delivery setup

Seniors who have mobility challenges but want to maintain independence with shopping can learn to use online grocery platforms. Youngsters teach how to navigate websites like Coles Online or Woolworths, set up accounts, save favourite items, and schedule deliveries. This reduces reliance on others for basic needs and maintains/increases choice and control.

Video calling family

HomeCaring clients often want to update family members or connect with them when they live far apart. A Youngster can teach them how to use FaceTime, WhatsApp video, or others. They can help with, setting up contact lists, and practice making calls. This helps families stay connected and involved in care decisions. It also gives seniors confidence and the ability to connect.
